As a parent, when it comes to nutrition, you want to ensure that your child gets all the essential vitamins and minerals they need to grow and develop properly.
Although most of the nutrients a child needs come from the food they eat on a daily basis, sometimes you get worried about your child’s nutrition, especially if the child is small and a picky eater.
In this case, most parents look for nutritious and tasty supplements for their children.
Generally, I do not recommend health supplements for children. Still, there are times when they can be extremely helpful- especially for fussy eaters.
But with so many different nutrition supplements on the market, it can be hard to know which one is right for your child.
Two of the most popular nutrition supplements on the market are Nangrow and Pediasure. But how do you know which one is right for your child?
To help you make the best decision for your child, I’ve put together a comparison of Nangrow vs. Pediasure.
I will be comparing both Nangrow and Pediasure in terms of :
- Nutrition

What is Nangrow?
Nangrow is a dietary supplement designed to help improve the health of growing children of 3-6 years old.
It is a product of Nestle and comes in a creamy vanilla flavour.
The Nangrow claims that it contains nutrients that help support your child’s normal brain development, physical growth, immune system, and easy digestion.
It is a milk-based supplement with the power of whey protein and probiotics.
What is Pediasure?
Pediasure is a dietary supplement designed to provide complete and balanced nutrition for the growth of children 2 years and above.
It is a product of Abbott and comes in three variants:
- Complete & Balanced nutrition (premium chocolate and vanilla delight)
- Pediasure Zero sucrose (for 2-6 years of kids)
- Pediasure 7+ (for children 7 years and above)
Pediasure claims that it has 37 vital nutrients that support your child’s growth, immune function, and brain development. And that you can see your child’s growth in 90 days.
Just like Nangrow, it is also a milk-based supplement.
Nangrow vs pediasure: Nutritional comparison
Nangrow and pediasure claim that they are packed with vital nutrients that support your child’s growth.
Let’s compare both to see which is nutritionally better for your child.
Protein
Nangrow: 15.2g of protein per 100g
Pediasure: 14.1g of protein per 100g
Protein is essential for the growth and development of kids. It helps repair tissue, build muscle, and synthesize enzymes and hormones.
Nangrow and pediasure are both good protein sources, but Nangrow provides slightly more protein per serving.
A single 30g serving of Nangrow provides 4.5g of protein, 24% of the daily protein needed for your child. The same serving of pediasure provides 4.2g of protein.
However, the key difference that makes Nangrow superior to Pediasure in terms of protein is that Nangrow, in addition to milk protein, contains whey protein.
Pediasure has only milk protein.
Whey protein is more easily absorbed by the body and provides more essential amino acids than milk protein.
In addition, studies suggested that whey protein also has the potential to increase muscle mass. This is beneficial for children who are too thin.

Calories
Nangrow: 467 calories per 100g
Pediasure: 454 calories per 100g
As kids grow, they need the right amount of calories to fuel their bodies and minds.
Nangrow and Pediasure both have a good amount of calories. A 30g serving of Nangrow provides 140 calories, whereas Pediasure provides 136 calories.
However, if you need to choose one, it is important to understand where the calories come from.
Most of the calories in Nangrow come from fat and carbs. In addition, Nangrow is packed with good quality fat and has no sugar.
On the other hand, Pediasure has calories from sugar (empty calories) in addition to fat and carbs, which degrade the overall quality of the calories.
So if we talk about the quality of calories, Nangrow is better than Pediasure.
Sugar
Nangrow: No sugar
Pediasure: 22.9g of sugar per 100g
The less sugar your child consumes, the better it is for their health.
Nangrow has no sugar, as their nutrition label states, whereas a 30g serving of Pediasure contains around 7g. In fact, the zero sucrose variant of Pediasure also has sugar.
Since Nangrow has less sugar and allows you to add sugar yourself, it is a better choice than Pediasure.
Fats
Nangrow: 19g of fat per 100g
Pediasure: 15g of fat per 100g
Fats are an essential part of a child’s diet that helps to absorb vitamins and minerals. In addition, fats help kids’ bodies to use calories more effectively and provide energy for growth and physical activity.
A single serving of nangrow provides 5.7g of fat, of which 3.1 is saturated fat, and the rest is unsaturated and trans fat. In addition, nangrow comes with Docosahexaenoic acid(DHA), which is vital for the child’s optimal visual and cognitive development.
On the other hand, pediasure provides 4.5g of fat, of which 1.2g is saturated fat, and the rest is unsaturated and trans fat. In addition, pediasure has a good amount of linoleic and alpha-linoleic acid that is necessary for growth and development.
So in terms of fat, both the nutrition drinks are packed with healthy fats and are good for your child.
Calcium
Nangrow: 536mg of calcium per 100g
Pediasure: 656mg of calcium per 100g
Both nangrow and pediasure claim that their drinks support longer and stronger bone development.
A single serving of Nangrow has 160mg of calcium, which is 23% of the daily requirement for kids aged 2-3 years, and 16% of the daily requirement for those aged 4-8 years.
On the other hand, Pediasure has 196mg of calcium per serving, which is 28% of the daily requirement for kids aged 2-3 years, and 19% for those aged 4-8 years.
In addition, pediasure has slightly high vitamin D and magnesium levels, which are also crucial for proper bone development.
Although the difference is insignificant, pediasure is slightly better for your kid’s bones.
Iron
Nangrow: 8.4mg of iron per 100g
Pediasure: 14.3mg of iron per 100g
Iron is an essential mineral for the proper development of kids. It is important to form hemoglobin, which carries oxygen in the blood. Iron deficient kids can experience problems with their growth, development, and behavior.
When compared, pediasure provides more iron levels than nangrow.
A single serving of nangrow provides 2.5mg of Iron, which is 35% of the daily need for 2-3 years of kids and 25% for 4-8 years of kids.
On the other hand, pediasure provides 4.2mg of Iron, which is 60% of the daily need for 2-3 years of kids and 42% for 4-8 years of kids.

Other vitamins and minerals
If you look at the nutrition label of both the nutrition drink, you will find a vast difference.
Nangrow contains 22 nutrients, 13 of which are vitamins and 7 of which are minerals. Pediasure, on the other hand, has 37 total nutrients, 14 of which are vitamins and 15 minerals.
Pediasure also provides additional nutrients like vitamin k2, choline, copper, chloride, sodium chromium, and molybdenum.
In addition, the levels of most nutrients in Pediasure are higher than those in Nangrow (except for protein).
So, if you want a more balanced or complete form of supplement that contains all essential vitamins and minerals for your child, Pediasure is a better choice than Nangrow.
Nangrow vs pediasure: Benefits comparison
Weight gain
According to a report, The number of underweight children in India has increased to 7 of 10 in the past four years. And the main reason for this is the lack of nutritious food.
For children, being underweight can lead to stunted growth, delayed development, and a weakened immune system. In severe cases, it can even be life-threatening.
Despite being high in sugar, pediasure is better for weight gain in children as it has additional nutrients.
Muscle building
Both Nangrow and Pediasure are packed with protein and are good for gaining muscles in children.
However, nangrow has slightly more edge over pediasure as it is slightly high in protein and contains whey protein.
Brain development
Brain development in kids is a process that starts at birth and continues into adulthood. This process is affected by many factors, one of which is nutrients.
Nangrow comes with DHA, which helps in cognitive development in kids.
On the other hand, Pediasure offers nutrients like Linoleic Acid, Alpha Linolenic Acid, Choline, Taurine, Magnesium & Biotin to support brain development and improve mental strength.
Both supplements are good for brain development. However, pediasure comes with additional nutrients for brain development, making it the better choice.

For stronger bones
While both supplements come with nutrients like calcium, magnesium, and vitamin D for bone development in kids, Pedisaure has slightly higher levels than nangrow.
In addition, pediasure comes with vitamin k2, which as per studies, improves bone density and reduces the risk of bone fractures.
This makes pediasure better in terms of getting longer and stronger bones.
For immune system
Both the supplements claim that they support normal immune system function for your kids. And the claims by both the brands are valid as both are packed with nutrients like vitamins A, C, zinc, iron, and selenium.
However, pediasure has a higher level of these nutrients, making it more preferred to boost the immune system in kids.
Nangrow vs pediasure: Taste comparison
Nangrow has a pleasant vanilla taste. However, it does not have the chocolate flavour that kids most love.
On the other hand, Pediasure also tastes good and comes with chocolate flavour.
Both supplements can enhance the flavour of milk your child will love.
But, if your kids prefer chocolate, go for Pediasure.
Final words
In conclusion, Nangrow and Pediasure are both effective ways of providing nutrients to your child.
While Nangrow is powered with DHA, whey protein, and probiotics, Pediasure has more vitamins and minerals. Plus, the levels of vitamins and minerals in Pediasure are high.
Moreover, Nangrow has no added sugar, while Pediasure comes with added sugar.
So which is better for your child?
If you don’t mind the added sugar in Pediasure, you can go for it. However, if you want a high-quality protein in your kid’s drink, choose Nangrow.
Whatever you choose, remember that these drinks are meant to supplement your child’s diet, not replace it. Addiction is a common problem with these supplements.
Make sure your kids eat a healthy diet and take these supplements.
